Diving Colombia’s sea of seven colours
San Andrés and Providencia make up the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, designated by UNESCO in 2000 and one of the largest marine protected areas in the Caribbean. Between the two islands there are more than thirty dive sites: shallow coral gardens, pinnacles where marine life gathers and vertical walls that disappear into the blue.
The water is between 27 and 30 °C depending on the season and visibility is usually over 20 metres, so a thin wetsuit is all you need. It’s an easy-going destination for relaxed diving, with dives that experienced divers will love too.
What the trip is like
The trip combines diving days with days at sea and on the islands. We start in San Andrés, with its reefs and cays, and move on to Providencia, which is quieter and home to a barrier reef considered one of the most extensive in the Caribbean.
We dive with trusted local dive centres and in small groups, so that every dive is relaxed and you have time to take it all in. When we’re not underwater, there are beaches, cays, Raizal food and sunsets.
We send you the detailed itinerary for each departure (dives, accommodation, transfers and price) when you ask for information, as each date may vary slightly.
A small-group diving holiday
Just a few people per group. It’s the difference between a crowded boat and a dive where the group descends together, unhurried and with no queuing. It’s also what makes the trip work if you’re coming on your own: you share the boat, the table and the conversation with people who love diving as much as you do.

Frequently asked questions
What’s included in the trip?
The package includes accommodation, activities around San Andrés island and your dives. We send you the full breakdown for each departure (number of dives, accommodation, transfers and what isn’t included) along with the itinerary. Ask for it in the form and we’ll write to you personally.
Are there direct flights from the UK to San Andrés?
No. The usual route is a direct flight from London to Bogotá (10 and a half to 11 hours) and a connection from there to San Andrés (a little over 2 hours). We’ll help you fit your flights around the itinerary.
When is the best time for diving in San Andrés?
You can dive all year round: the water is always warm. January to April tends to be drier; October and November are the wettest months.
Is San Andrés safe?
San Andrés and Providencia are among the most relaxed destinations in Colombia and welcome visitors from all over the world. We use the same common sense as on any trip, and on ours everything is arranged in advance.
Can I come on my own?
Of course. Small groups are ideal for solo travellers, which makes this a great single diving holiday: you share the trip with other divers from day one.
