Colourful fish in the clear water at West View, San Andrés

About us

Siete Azules was born of the sea and of Colombia. We’re two people who design trips the way we’d love to experience them ourselves.

I’ve been seeking out the sea all my life. I can’t remember a single holiday without it. In 2019 I moved to Australia, where I did my first diving course and kept on training until I became a Rescue Diver. Since then I’ve dived in Australia, Bali, the Philippines, Mexico, Colombia and the Mediterranean. Every dive teaches me something new.

Perhaps it’s in my blood; my grandfather was a diver at a time when very few people did that. I didn’t find out until I was already underwater, and then I understood why.

I fell in love with Colombia the first time I saw it. Ever since, I’ve dreamt of showing it from the sea: a country barely known beneath its waters that, once you come ashore, carries on in its nature, its culture and its flavours. Siete Azules is an invitation to discover it slowly, in small groups and with all your senses.

Growing up in Colombia taught me that this country has many ways to surprise you. One of them stays almost hidden, under the sea, among reefs and life that few people ever get to know. I’m excited to share the Colombia that begins underwater and carries on in its food, its stories and the joy you find in its people.

We make a good team on this project. Verónica takes care of the part that happens underwater, and I work behind the scenes so that everything else runs smoothly. I choose our local partners, coordinate the logistics and look after the running of each trip so that everything falls into place from the start.

We don’t just want to organise diving trips. We want to create experiences where the sea, the culture and Colombian hospitality become part of the same memory.

Why Siete Azules

The sea around San Andrés has seven blues (siete azules, in Spanish): from the turquoise by the shore to the indigo where the wall begins. That change of colour is the first thing you see when you arrive and the last thing you forget.

We wanted a name that spoke of that: of gazing at the sea calmly, descending little by little and discovering that every depth has its own colour.

Where we are heading

Mission

To design small-group diving trips that show the best of Colombia’s sea and the culture of its islands, with trusted local dive centres and sustainable tourism: protecting the reef, supporting the people who live there and leaving every place as we found it.

Vision

For Colombia to become one of the best-known diving destinations in the Spanish-speaking world, and for everyone who comes to dive to take home its culture, its food and its stories too.
